My must see match of the day
Upcoming
KAZ E. Rybakina [9] vs CZE T. Valentova
I mean Valentova should lose but I hope she gives Rybakina a hard way to go.

A nasty one too, where she pulled out the old heavily coded "uneducated and classless" trope on Taylor. I think I just handed in my Penko fandom card.

Two set points in the tiebreak, but couldn't pull it off.

Penko's not one to lecture anyone on "class".

I love Hsieh Su-wei. I wish she would get another partner now.

Love the last paragraph from this article:

https://apnews.com/article/us-open-tayl ... 5e9715f425

"In singles, Townsend is No. 139. She is the lowest-ranked American woman to beat a past Grand Slam champion in singles at a major since Kristie Ahn defeated — guess who? — Ostapenko at the 2019 U.S. Open."

Go Taylor!!!!! :yahoo:

Su-Wei changed partners in Cincinnati. She played with Shibahara. But she entered the US Open with Ashlyn Krueger and Shibahara is partnering with Linette. Wondered what happened there. Ostepenko is now with Krejcikova.

The ending to the article is delicious.

Thank goodness about the partnership change! Interesting! I'm afraid I didn't keep tabs on Cincinnati or much of the hard court tournaments this summer (maybe I'd do a little better in the pools if I did!!!)
