I never thought Krejcikova was going to lose to Townsend after she got back to 3-all in the second set when she easily could have been down 5-1.

Obviously she could have lost--she hit the outside of the line on one of the eight match points--but when her head is right, she is money in the clutch even when she continues to make bad mistakes on other points.

I feel awful for Townsend, though. She should have closed it out like 6-1, 6-3, but she didn't do anything wrong on the eight match points, and Krejcikova is a more talented player.

And, as I said in another post, Elena was simply playing with our delicate feelings. Pretending she could be in contention for the trophy. Letting us, for a moment, dream of another impassive trophy ceremony in which she would smile as much as a 3,000 yo mummy after being found.
Nah, not gonna happen. Let me go down to fellow Wimby champ Marketa. Enough of this New Yorkity
