Well, she's got the game to get to the finals of Grand Slams, she'll likely get another chance.

it was a high class match though I thought Anisimiovaa was too cautious at the wrong time. We sat up from 130 am to 4am to watch it - was worth it, though. Sabalenka definitely deserves to have a major in 2025, she has done so well at all of them..The highlight for me at this USO was the return of Osaka and the emergence of Anisimova as a genuine contender.
Anisimova tried to guide her forehand rather than hit it, at some critical junctures - that always sends the ball sailing. Agassi was the first to comment on it, in his own game, that I have heard. Of course, at my level, I know it from experience but that the pros have the same issue is something I learned by hearing Agassi.

I thought it was a good match but not a great one. Anisimova felt flat during quite a bit of it. A few flashes where she wasn't but didn't sustain it. Hangover from the Swiatek and Osaka matches? But she handled it much better than the W final obviously. She is really really close. I would have been happy for either player to win today though. Aryna is so good on hard courts. Maddie just outplayed her at AO, but I really feel like Aryna should have won that French Open against Gauff (even though I do like Coco). Anyway, happy for Aryna and hopefully Amanda will bounce back well because she is really close.

Well, somebody told Aryna that you don't have to blast every ball. And she listened.
I could not see the match, obviously. And I am sad for Amanda; I said whoever would lose would take it badly.
But Amanda needs to call Ivan Lendl and have a chat. In the 80's, he had 4 losses in slam finals before he won his first. He could tell her a lot of things. She has the game, and she is now a contender. Especially because she is young. She has time.

Anisimova shall establish stronger presence on tour. Just 3 career titles is not enough for her talent level. Then she'll have more confidence and less stress in the late stages of the slams

her best shot would be the French, next Wimbledon.. the USO and AO will generally be too quick for her. She herself said she prefers slower courts. Sabalenka was able to hurry her with her pace and depth .. much harder at W and RG.

Look at the silliness of that argument (hers). She has made the finals of two slams, and one more semi (W, USO and RG). That does not look to me like a player that is bothered by the surface at any of the slams.
And selective arguing. If Sabalenka was able to hurry her, why were Osaka and Swiatek unable to? It is not as if Naomi and Iga are caressing the ball out there.

yes, that is a good point. But the fact is, Sabalenka is a bit more powerful than Osaka.. in fact, Osaka gave her a lot of weak second serves she could punish.. dont know the numbers but I was watching every point and cringed every time Osaka missed a first serve - knew what was coming! Sabalenka was not as attackable. The one thing Osaka can improve is her second serve - as Laver once said 'you are only as good as your second serve'

did you watch Osaka's second serve and what Anisimova did to it?!
