2026 SAG Actor Award Nominations List: ‘One Battle’ and ‘Sinners’ Lead

Timothée Chalamet and Ariana Grande also scored nods. Cynthia Erivo and the stars of “Jay Kelly” were left out.

By Kyle Buchanan
Jan. 7, 2026

“One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” continued to rule this awards season, topping the nominations for the Screen Actors Guild’s Actor Awards, which were announced on Wednesday morning. (The trophy was renamed this past year.)

While most of the nominations for “One Battle After Another” were expected — leads Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti were recognized, as well as supporting actors Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro — “Sinners” overperformed, earning not just a nomination for lead Michael B. Jordan but also for supporting actress Wunmi Mosaku and newcomer Miles Caton, up for supporting actor.

Some other big names were left out. Though her “Wicked: For Good” co-star Ariana Grande made it in, lead actress Cynthia Erivo did not. George Clooney and Adam Sandler (“Jay Kelly”) and Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt (“The Smashing Machine”) also failed to score nominations.

The Screen Actors Guild tends to favor English-language performances, but even so, few pundits were predicting a complete shutout for the Norwegian film “Sentimental Value,” which stars Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgard and Elle Fanning. The Brazilian actor Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent”), a Golden Globe nominee, was also snubbed.

The nominees for these awards often closely mirror the eventual Oscar nominees, though last year, no category matched all five exactly. Still, the eventual winner of the Oscar is almost always nominated by the Screen Actors Guild first.

The Actor Awards will be handed out on March 1, live on Netflix.

Here is the complete list of nominees: (Next post)
