by ti-amie Keep in mind...

by jazzyg And the high the next two days will be only in the 70s. That disparity is nuts even for Australia.

Sabalenka up 6-3, 3-0 on Jovic just as ESPN coverage about to start.

I had to sign in to ESPN again. Annoying.

Anyway Sabalenka is turning this into a romp.

by jazzyg I don't know whether Learner Tien will beat Zverev after leveling this match at a set apiece, but he definitely has become my favorite player to watch on the ATP tour, bar none.

Absolutely love the way he plays.

by ponchi101 He neutralizes the other player very well. Zverev is hitting well, and yet, he can't seem to get Learner out of position.
This might go for quite a bit longer.

I agree! He is fun to watch.

by ti-amie Uh Svitolina is up on Gauff 6-1, 4-2.

by Suliso I'm a really surprised with how easily Svitolina swept Gauff aside. Coco is currently not a serious Slam contender outside clay, but still...

by Suliso Of course happy for Elina, but Coco must have contributed. I'm at work so there was no way to watch...

by ti-amie Svitolina dominated tonight/this morning. Cori almost had a total meltdown on court in the second set and the shot that Elina hit to set up MP was really nasty. She faces Sabalenka next and if she plays the way she played tonight it should be a heck of a match.

Well...Coco couldn't buy a serve in the first set. So there was that. Coco also couldn't keep anything in the court, but Svitolina's depth contributed to that.

by ponchi101 Coco is certainly a top player. But her variations are the most extreme for the top group. She can play well enough to win a slam, or she can drop to yesterday's level.
My GF is the sole witness that I said that Elina had a good chance.

by mick1303 Svitolina made a semis now in 3 slams out of 4. She did not make semis at the French Open but was in the quarters there on 5 separate occasions, so it is very realistic still that she'll make it there as well.

by jazzyg On the one hand, Gauff is very mentally tough in the way she normally fights and problem solves.

On the other hand, her continued serving woes in big matches and breakdown in form are a sign of mental weakness. A top player should not continually have these issues.

I thought Svitolina would win but not like that. The match very much reminded me of Halep's Wimbledon final win against Serena when Halep played probably the best match of her career and Serena played maybe the worst match of her career.

by ti-amie She did have the meltown. I'm glad she let that frustration out.

by ponchi101 I see no problem there.
