Charging children as adults is complete political BS, and is ONLY done as a political tool because the powers that be don't want to admit that things like this are the result of a FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM(S) - from parental education to ignoring warning signs to insufficient intervention...
You charge a child as an adult because you want to put 100% of the blame on the kid, rather than putting the focus on the failure of the system(s). And this is completely insane - not to mention manipulative and dishonest as hell.

It appeases the public, as well, on a very superficial level. The public, which is comprised of people who are ignorant to this kind of thing, will say "It's good that they're charging the little devil as an adult - at least they're doing something."
But if they would have done something BEFORE the tragedy, the tragedy would have been avoided.
It's just total manipulative BS from start to finish, and from top to bottom.

I have known and worked with a bunch of 'troubled kids' in my life, and every single one of them were the product of bad parents/bad parenting. And the parents were very, very, very likely victims of their bad parents... and so on, and so on. It's extremely cyclical.
What I've learned in over a quarter century of working with troubled kids and troubled adults is: Show me a screwed up kid, and I'll show you screwed up parents - 100% of the time.

There's a documentary on HBO about these types of boys, "A Dangerous Son". Ultimately these boys turn into men where the consequences for their mental illness typically turn into prison time. Few, if any, can ever live independently.

Ok - if the kid has some sort of physical chemical imbalance which affects the functioning of his brain, then charging him as adult is also wrong in that circumstance.
With some sort of chemical imbalance, etc., he would either need to be permanently medicated, or institutionalized.

My point is that charging a child as an adult is saying that the child is 100% responsible for his actions. But if there is a chemical imbalance, he is obviously NOT 100% responsible for his actions.
And if he is the product of terrible parenting, he also should not be held 100% responsible for his actions.
This is why there are many laws which prevent children from doing things that adults are permitted to do - from voting to drinking to sexual consent, etc. - because their brains are not mature or developed enough to understand things like responsibility and consequences.
But as soon as they commit a crime, that suddenly cancels all that out and renders them capable of understanding everything? No - of course not. It's absurd.

To my knowledge no indication has been made that this had to do with race Owen. So far it seems that this is a vet who was having a moment and may have been more of a danger to his family than the kid ringing his doorbell. Did the unexpected ring of the doorbell startle him?

This allegation has been floating around all afternoon on the Bird App and no official source has confirmed or denied what is alleged to be the motive behind knocking out power to an entire county.
