by Suliso Bad draw for both Barty and Osaka...

by Deuce Raducanu vs. Stephens first round is interesting...
Both are U.S. Open champions who've really done nothing of note since winning that title (of course, Emma has had less time to prove herself).

It's a rare case where both players can view their opponents as being ripe for the picking, based on current form.
This match is the very definition of a toss-up.

I'd take Sloane, even if she hasn't picked up a racket in a month. Actually, especially if she hasn't picked up a racket lately.

Yeah, more so for Osaka. She has to get past Anisimova first, and I'd pick Barty over Osaka. I remember a few years ago at the AO there was a "quarter of death" in the women's draw. It was the main talking point before the tournament. But of course it fell apart. I think this match will R4 will hold, either Anisimova or Osaka vs Barty.

:( But they probably won't reach R3. Such an underrated story, significant others competing against each other. They aren't married, right? I wanted to say spouses but I don't think they are married.

by ponchi101 I think they are. The point was made some time ago that sooner or later they would meet at a tournament and it would be the first match ever between spouses.
Looking around the web, can't find anything saying they are "officially" married. Will let others dig some more.

by dmforever When I googled them, everything came up "engaged" and in wikipedia it says "in a relationship", so it looks like they aren't married, unless they did so very very quietly, which seems very doubtful to me. This IS a fascinating story, especially if it happens. :)

Kevin

by Deuce Must have happened in mixed doubles somewhere along the way... Chris Evert-Lloyd vs. John, maybe?

by dmforever I'm curious who you'd all like to win, even if you don't give her a good chance. My top 5 are Jabeur, Barty, Osaka, Sakkari, and Rogers.

Like? Mugu, Kontaveit, Barty, Anisimova or Coco. But I will not mind at least 15 players, if they win.
