Thiem has only won one set of tennis since his return
True. But he is a two time finalist, and not an old man. Those slumps come to an end. I am sure they factored that one in their decision but, to me, still, that took some cojones to do.

Except he didn't beat Griekspoor. I am totally confused (why he lost to Griekspoor).

I had to double check in a few places, but didn’t Cuevas beat Brooksby?

He did. We have still not been able to automate the coloring ;)

Yeah, that was what I meant. Planning ahead is often futile. :)

Day 2 Pick Summary

Start 112
No Pick 5
Left 107

Cilic 29
Kemanovic 12
Korda 12
Norrie 12
Fucsovics 9
McDonald 8
Frtiz 5
Baez 3
Basilashvili 3
Coria 2
Evans 2
Gasquet 2
Wawrinka 2
Ivashka 1
Molcan 1
Nadal 1
Paul 1
Rinderknech 1
Ymer 1

Start 107
Alive 101
Dead 6
In Limbo 0

Cilic 29 He should win, but you might want him later on.
Kemanovic 12 This should be a good pick. I just don't know enough about Etcheverry to be sure.
Korda 12 Millman is fairly good for a non-seeded player. Korda should win, but the match might be closer than you like.
Norrie 12 He should win. I don't know anything about Guinard.
Fucsovics 9 He should win. If he does, you will have done a good job of saving your options for later in the tournament.
McDonald 8 If he wasn't playing a qualifier, I would say this is a bad pick. But you have a decent chance of making it through.
Frtiz 5 Even though he is seeded, I don't see Fritz as a clay court player. However, he is playing a qualifier, so he has a decent chance.
Baez 3 Lajovic is a decent player for non-seeded players. I think you might be in for a rough ride.
Basilashvili 3 He is playing Cressey, who likes to serve-and-volley, which historically doesn't work very well on clay.
Coria 2 I think this is going to be a tough match. It is so close that I would stay away from it. Note, we have someone picking his opponent.
Evans 2 I don't think of Evans as a clay court player. You could be in trouble.
Gasquet 2 He is just coming back from injury, but I think he has won a couple of matches. I don't know how he will fare against Harris.
Wawrinka 2 He is also just coming back from injury, but I don't remember him winning a match. So, I have no clue how he is going to do.
Ivashka 1 Are you picking pro-Ivashka, of anti-Paire? I don't know Ivashka well enough to predict this match.
Molcan 1 You have a couple of people picking your opponent. This will be a tough match. Good luck.
Nadal 1 You might want to be able to use this pick later in the tournament!
Paul 1 Garin, his opponent, is coming back from an absence, and has begun to improve lately. (So his ranking doesn't reflect how well he has been playing lately. You could be in trouble.
Rinderknech 1 I think you are in trouble
Ymer 1 I don't know these players well enough, but it looks like a close match to me.

I got a real kick out of picking Nadal..never could before, because he always lasted longer in the tournament than I did in the SP!

I just hope you haven’t done to Nadal what the Jabeur picker did to Ons yesterday!

Losing when picking Nadal in SP can't have happened very often either.

I'm glad I was away from all of my match/score information during that Basilashvili match. Watching that match in progress would have put me in frazzle mode.

*** If you Day 2 pick either did not play, or did not finish, you will still need to make a Day 3 pick, and hope both picks win.
