No. Not that bad. of course, the match has started as we have already one set, but Ruud will make him fight a bit more.

Yes, a bit more. 3, 3 & 1.
You were mostly right, Ashkor :)

Disgraceful performance by Ruud there.

He was going to get killed regardless, but he stopped competing in the third set. I doubt he will ever reach another slam final, even on clay.

Nah, that's too hard. He was facing an impossible task, and Rafa was playing with no pressure in the third.
I will not say that he will never win a slam; he is young, and he is very good on clay. And, even though we have been saying this for almost a decade now, Rafa has to retire. I guess.

I liked Ruud's assessment: "I am another one of your victims here..."

Nadal knows his own body better than anyone else, but if he is at all physically capable, he should play Wimbledon because he can win it. Djokovic was a little fortunate to beat him in the semis (the real final) in 2018 and he did not play a good match against Federer in the 2019 semis, but the way he is playing right now, there's nobody he could not beat on grass.

Djokovic would be the favorite, but his endurance issues the past 12 months have been underplayed. He has looked spent multiple times. We'll never know for sure, but I think Nadal would have won a fifth set 6-1 in the quarters here because Djokovic was running on empty in the last two games.

As for Ruud, he did not compete for the last 10 games. Cilic would have gone down in flames, too, but he would have competed until the final point. And Ruud did not play all that well in this tournament, surviving some tough matches because he was the better player but looking a little shaky from the start. His best match was his last three sets against Cilic, who blew him off the court in the first set. He will go deep in plenty of slams, but he will come up short against the top guys.

Great tournament for Casper and he should hold his head high not just for the last two weeks, but also for today. Federer had a worse scoreline and shorter match against Rafa in one of their RG finals. So it truly happens to them best of them sometimes at Roland Garros when playing Rafa.

If I remember well, 1, 3 & 0 for Fed @ 2008 RG.
The key match was Rafa/Novak. That is clear. And Zverev was competing very well. So, I agree that Casper simply ran into the owner of the place.
He climbs to #6 in the rankings. Now, he has to start working on surfaces other than clay. It is clear he is very good on dirt, but that leaves him with like 7 months of the year with very hard matches to play.
