What a rotten luck for all Kovinic pickers (I considered it too). She has withdrawn...

The day's bandwagon goes through, but a lot of red today. Splattered here and there.

Well, that was just rude.

So I assume all of us who picked Kovinic are out? Or do we get to continue since Kovinic's replacement did beat the opponent Kartal? I've never had this happen to me before so I haven't really paid attention to what precedent is.

Sadly, we are done (I also picked Kovinic). You pick a player not a spot in the draw.

Well, my consolation is my ATP pick won, so I half survive for day 3.

We will be having some holdovers again today, so stay tuned for TMQ to make fun of your losing pick if the first round ever finishes.

I knew Muguruza was a bad pick. She’s not been in good form at all. I have no idea why I went through with it anyway. Now I get my disappointment stretched out for an extra day.

Serena let me down at the end . Oh well, still hangin' on by a thread in the men's contest with Krygios barely making it through.

it is one thing to go out when you pick loses. But when they withdraw and you can't do anything about is a whole other level of STANK.
It seems like time is going backwards towards 1984 . . . :freaking:

It's also a whole other level of STANK when your pick is up a set and suffers an injury and has to retire, like happened to me with Dimitrov on Tuesday.

Agree. You feel like "At least go out there and have 25 MTO's, BUT GO OUT THERE!!!!!!"
Imagine if we were to play this thing for money. We would need straightjackets by the dozen.

We are down to 83 players, although several fates still hang in the balance. Meanwhile, rain continues.

The breakdown

Elise Mertens 29
Sorana Cirstea 11
Alison Riske-Armitraj 10
Diane Parry 8
Irina-Camila Begu 4
Kaja Juvan 4
Marie Bouzkova 2
Anhelina Kalinina 2
Angelique Kerber 2
Anett Kontaveit 2
Jelena Ostapenko 1
Maria Sakkari 1
Shuai Zhang 1

ETA: Adjusted number is 77 after the 6 Muguruza losers

Udvardy potentially playing bandwagon killer today, as she takes the first set over Mertens
