The top 25 men entrants are all through to their next rounds. Usually, at least a couple of the top 25 crap out in the first round.

Watching carefully to see how volleyers like Leylah and Paul do...if the altitude makes it harder to volley...and easier to pass them...

Madrid's altitude is shown as 650 m (average). Highest is 840. While Gstaad for instance is at 1080. Guadalajara is 1566. So while it is noticeable, it is far from unique.meganfernandez wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 9:29 pmKostyuk might still be tired from last week, and remember, the elevation at Madrid probably means this surface isn't like any other.

Carle beat Raducanu, Kudermetova, and broke Ostapenko* to open the match
*was down triple break point, got it to deuce, and blew two challenges - to remain on form
Ostapenko broke right back
Carle broke again.
No holds through three games

Nadal up 2-0 with an early break on de Minaur. Crowd is amped.

He stopped on a point, circled a mark (indicating he wanted a challenge).Fastbackss wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2024 2:27 pm Nadal up 2-0 with an early break on de Minaur. Crowd is amped.
But he didn't raise his arm or anything. Chair (Fergus) didn't grant the challenge saying he didn't ask for it.
As if the crowd needed more reason to be on his side. Went from being 30-30 to double break point. Nadal got it back to deuce but did get broken
