I expect Raducanu will sign up Cahill as coach.. his split from Halep looks suspiciously timed..

We were tangentially mentioning in the COACHING MERRY GO ROUND topic. But I gather that Cahill would like stability, and the Raducanu's seem not to be too much into that.

Raducanu is the rising star, Halep is fading, I guess... plus she just got married, may be phasing out.. I wonder...

If you haven't watched the Documentary "Untold: Breaking Point" about Mardy Fish, it is really well done! Includes lots of good Roddick content for anyone who misses him too. On Netflix now.

I was wondering what he was going to do. He's ranked 95 now. He'd have to qualify for most tournaments, right? It might be the best move for him, but it just sort of finalizes the loss of a great talent. I hope he finds something that makes him happy.

Here is the link in case you want to read it.

No, he'd get wildcards. Remember all those qualifying tournaments Genie played when her ranking first dropped? Me neither. If you can sell tickets, you get a wildcard. Not being a favorite on this board isn't the test of getting one as she showed.

He's Aussie, there's no end in sight to their covid approach. His mom is sick and he wants to go be with her. And he said he'll be playing the Aussie Open and will go from there.

Despite the short time he actually played this year, that he was injured the entire time makes this unsurprising even without the part about his mom.

And I have no idea why this is in this thread, fwiw, this is about tennis.

Remember that the TENNIS PLAYERS RANDOM RANDOM (here) and the TENNIS RANDOM RANDOM are like doppelgangers...

Sorry, but I didn't understand Jazz or Ponchi's comments. Isn't this an appropriate place to talk about a tennis player? And is there a difference between Tennis Random Random and Tennis Players Random Random? TRR is supposed to be about tennis in general, I gather, and TPRR is supposed to be specifically about players?

This thread (TPRR) was intended to be more lighthearted about tennis players photos on/ off the court, social media, etc. But does it really matter?

Just watched it last night. There was a lot more Roddick than you'd think for a Fish documentary. You're right, so well done, great production. I had no memory of what happened at that US Open. I wish they had talked more about how his anxiety manifested on the court.

Craig Shapiro (anyone follow him, listen to his podcast?) raked the Tennis Channel over the coals for not getting this documentary. You might say Netflix has more money, but do they really have a bigger budget for a Mardy Fish documentary than Tennis Channel should?

So, business as usual? ... he has plenty of time for a second act later if he wants one. I doubt we've seen the last of him. Maybe he'll commentate, do something with team sports, who knows. I always thought he might have an Agassi-like renaissance when he's older and perhaps more suited to it. My take on Nick is that it's important to him to do things on his own terms, but those terms aren't enough to maximize his talent. Maybe later his terms will align with what it takes to maximize his talent. He might never want that, but if he does, there's time.

Isn't it a series of stories about athletes from different sports? Or is it a collections of random documentaries that were made by different people.

It is part of Netflix's "Untold" series, five documentaries on mental health in sports, all produced by the same people for Netflix. Regardless, Shapiro is saying that if Fish and Roddick were open to a project like this, the Tennis Channel should be at least trying to get it, which he seems to believe they aren't. He would know. The larger point is that he thinks TC isn't serious about producing great content and looks pretty bad when hardcore tennis stuff winds up on other platforms. The Guillermo Vilas documentary is another example.
