The draw has Stan playing Armando R1 but OOP says Thiem. Did Arnaldi withdraw?

The draw on the ATP site has been updated showing Wawrinka vs Thiem who qualified in so I guess Arnaldi did withdraw.

Historically a fast court..hard to see beyond Djokovic and Alcaraz, both rested and motivated.,.if injury derails them, opportunity for Sinner and Medvedev I guess ..

Davidovich Fokina has won 12 of 13 points to start second set vs Shelton after winning the first in a TB.

Do I know why? I do not. But ADF is passing Shelton at the net at will. Shelton isn’t closing and isn’t being aggressive with volleys at all. Basically feeding the ball back to ADF at times.

Where to hit the volley to be effective, is one of the things one learns as one matures,...for now, let us be happy he is even trying?

For sure. He has a lot of potential for improvement. He definitely should be coming in. Love to see it.

Is there a coach left that can teach a young player how to really volley?
Mac could never teach anybody; his volleys were instinctive. Edberg does not coach anymore, Pete has never and never will, the old Aussies (Roche) will not coach anymore.
Who can teach the stroke anymore?
