Raducanu served for the match at 5-2 in the third and is now at 5-5. Ruse is being more aggressive than Raducanu but not red-lining or anything. Emma looks good but needs matches.

Aaaand she closed it out on her fourth match point with some good serves. Warm moment between her and Ruse at the net. Ruse is Romanian, and Emma called her a friend in her speech.

I've often wondered about that. No one likes to walk into a room to see someone wearing the same outfit. It's not like these athletic companies don't have an army of designers. People want variety, so I'd want everyone we sponsor at a tournament in different kits for wider appeal. I'm also not a good sales/marketing person.

Seems like they could have a few more options for the top players, at least, so they all get their own look. I think that would be a good marketing approach, actually. Because then it's not "the Adidas skirt" but "Caro's skirt," and if you love her, you want her skirt. The players would love to have their own looks. You're right, why can't they design a few more? It would be hard for stores to stock that many SKUs but they could be available online. Then they would also know who sells the most merchandise.

The scorekeepers really hate it when players look identical, if they're still doing that manually.

I had to look at their ankles from a distance. Svitolina wore braces and Caro wore bright blue shoes.

Hopefully Xinyu and Xiyu Wang will be wearing different outfits when they play each other in the R16 or that will be a scorers nightmare

I watched Svitolina vs Woz and Raducanu vs Ruse last night.

Svitolina vs Woz was a grueling match both mentally and physically. Woz was doing her usual and waging a war of attrition but Elina got right down in the mud with her and was the one to get the mistakes from Woz.

As for Raducanu I watched through the second set and the start of the third when it became obvious Ruse was not going to be able to hold her nerve and take the match from Raducanu who did nothing special. There were a few nice shots from her but if she had been playing anyone else I don't think she would've won the match. Ruse had no business losing the first set but you could see the panic set in and she did. She held it together better in the second to win it but she was losing the plot mentally early in the third and I'm surprised she managed to get to 5 all before losing.

It's going to be interesting to see Raducanu play the new more aggressive Svitolina next.
