I've had Fils in all my fantasy teams as of late. He has not delivered.

It doesn't feel like Swiatek been at the top that long, but already #9 on the all time list and certain to move past Henin and Barty for #7 spot before USO. Only Hingis and the five heavyweights far ahead now.

There are currently 5 American women ranked in the top 15 (Gauff, Pegula, Collins, Keys, Navarro) for the first time since May of 2004 (Lindsay Davenport, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Jennifer Capriati and Chanda Rubin)

She has won only one 1000 event in her life, I think...the same one the equally over-rated JPeg won first.GuadalajaraJTContinental wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 9:29 am Sakkari does most of her damage at the 1000 level tournaments

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
I hasten to add - both are good players, just not as good as their rankings would have them.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
So how come they reached such rankings? If you say that any player is not as good as their ranking says, by definition there must be other players that are better than what their ranking says, because the one you claim is not as good should be ranked lower, and therefore such a player is occupying the spot of a better player that is ranked lower.
Mind you, I don't disagree necessarily with that premise; I don't think anybody in the tennis world will say that right now, Alcaraz is NOT the best player in the world, despite being ranked 3rd.
But you continuously choose Pegula as a worst player than her ranking says. So, how come she reached it?

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Pegula and Sakkari are not equally overrated, as Pegula's much higher ranking has borne out.
Sakkari has only won one 1000 level, but has been to the finals of 3 others and the semis of 6 additional events, so she gets a lot of points from there.
