The quadrennial tradition where my family hates me because the TV stays on non-stop and things get uttered like "can we eat early because the 100m prelims are coming up"

I have lost track of the games. Are they still running the mixed events in track? And swimming? Those I thought were super fun, and it was an idea I had about 10 years ago.

Yes. Mixed 4x400 m in Athletics, and a 4x100 m mixed medley relay in swimming.

I wonder how they came to have Coco be one of the flag bearers for the US Olympic team?

US flag bearers are selected by a vote of the athletes who are competing.

I think... (not entirely sure) that they do a vote within the team and that determines who gets to carry the flag?

- edit -

So yeah... What skatingfan said :D

Kerber had announced her retirement after Olympics...she was a subtle and crafty player..good at counter-punching and great at changing the direction of her shot ..forehand down the line to finish a cross-court exchange...even when you knew
it was coming, it was startling

Krejcikova and Siniakova together again..and, despite all the rumours to the contrary, it seems Tsitsi is, in fact, partnering Sakkari...Nadal is a very good doubles player, don't know how good Alcaraz is but Nadal is enough to win, I would think ..especially as Djokovic will knock him off early in singles...

You know...I'm liking the boat parade. It's a cool change.

Artistically, I'd say these opening ceremonies are unmatched.

I'm impressed how well it went off with all that rain! OMG! Wonder how many are going to have colds in the next few days! 🤔
