Neither Tiafoe nor Fritz able to get the opponent's serve back..poor quality match thus far..doesn't look worthy of a major semifinal ..let us hope it gets better..beginning of the second set right now.

Jack Draper on vomiting during his US Open match against Jannik Sinner, ‘It’s a big occasion for me.. I’m someone who is quite an anxious human being… when you add that together I do feel a bit of nausea sometimes on court’
“Can you tell us if you came in feeling any stomach issues or was the nausea to do with the humidity?”
Jack: “Yeah, I mean, obviously it was extremely humid today. Hasn't been pretty much the whole week as of yet.
You know, I think it was obviously a very physical match.
Obviously that's why Jannik is the No. 1 player in the world, because when you play the top players, the intensity is different. You know, it's a step up.
I think obviously it's a big occasion for me. I definitely felt, even though I generally feel pretty relaxed and stuff, I definitely felt more excited today, a few more nerves around. I'm definitely someone who is, I think, quite an anxious human being. I think when you add all that together sometimes I do feel a bit nausea on court, and I do feel a little bit sick when it gets tough. Yeah, I didn't have any problems before the match, but it obviously just built up.”

Re: '24 US Open Day 12 Order of Play & Discussion
....And THIS is how high up in the stands one gets when seated in Ashe....with the caveat that I left when Draper was CLEARLY going down in the third set, so that I could eat a charmingly expensive US Open dinner.....LOL, I did not even notice that Draper had vomited. Mind you, if all of his vomiting took place in the third set, I am off the vomit hook here. Nor did anyone around me mention anything about Draper and vomit. Albeit, perhaps a US Open spectator might not find it wholesome to begin a conversation about the vomit of a SF opponent among many strangers.ti-amie wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 2:54 am

Fritz is indeed still the best player in US. We had this discussion few weeks ago.

I think in a couple of years they will care. Mensik will make them.

Being the best player in ANY country is something to care about, especially if you come from a country with a big tennis tradition and history.
Heck, being the best tennis player in India carries some weight. It is not something insignificant, in a country with a good tennis tradition and such a large population.

I suspect in proportion to the population Czechs are the very best. Historically only challenged by Swedes. But Swedish tennis does not have great female players, while Czechs have both.

How about Swiss? 28 singles Slams and smaller than Czechia.
