Why not Collins? She is retiring, may be more motivated to go out in a blaze of glory..how sweet it would be for her to actually win the YEC!

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Because her hot streak from earlier this year seems to be over. She might be mentally retired already. Let's see if I'm wrong on this or not...

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
If Collins were the kind of player that could use "Motivation to go out in a blaze of glory" to raise the level of her game, that 1R loss at the USO would not have happened. I mean, if she really could do that trick, USO Semis would have been a good way of doing it.
Love Danielle, but I don't see her having enough game to reach the YEC.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
It must be done. Much easier to market the #8 seed as the "Current Wimbledon champion" than listing the 12 QF's and SF's she did at minor tournaments to get there.

I "get" the rationale, but I still do not like it.
At least weight the tallying for the finals in a way that it's impossible to not qualify if you win a slam.

Re Wuhan: The WTA being what it is there was exactly nothing about the entry list available in English. A dedicated fan went to a Chinese site and got an entry list that includes players who are out injured for the rest of the year. I thought it had been cancelled too.

The men's race..is between Rublev, DeMinaur and Djokovic..will Djokovic bother? Unlikely.

Yet Djokovic is going to Shanghai. He may not be prioritizing the WTF, but given de Minaur's injury issues in the second half of the year he may qualify simply by playing.

Shanghai is an automatic registration. Whether he's actually going is probably not known yet.

It does seem to suggest Djoko is keen to play..but who knows? He could be just saying it to keep his agent happy.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Iga Swiatek has passed Ash Barty to land 7th on the list of most weeks at #1, with 122. I do feel like Sabalenka is poised to take over the #1 slot for 2025, though.
