Other than that, it can only be love for the game.
Agree, but I doubt any male player thnks of Court as a benchmark...
The benchmark I think of her as isn't a kind one.

I wonder if Alcaraz needs an additional coach/advisor for hard courts...Ferrero was really a clay court specialist, Alcaraz is becoming one ..his spin really doesn't work on hard courts as well as it does on clay..his shots, his second serve, just sit up and beg to be hit..maybe someone like Agassi would be good for him..?

Which he hasn't. I suspect he is not a records-chaser..
He is confident enough that he thought he could get it by playing his normal schedule. And I would have agreed with him.

Pere Riba has to have surgery so Dante Bottini will be Zheng Qinwen's coach for the Australian Open.

According to the Spanish press, Dante Bottini, Nishikori's former coach, will be Zheng's temporary coach as Riba needs hip surgery asap. Riba will be back in Zheng's Team in Indian Wells next year

Playing with Zheng threw out his hip? Not surprised!

Roddick has an interesting take on the Djokovic- Murray partnership, on his podcast. Basically, he thinks it is a very smart move - Murray, he says, has the best tennis brain ever, and can help Djokovic deal with his rivals, in a way nobody else can, because he knows their games.. also, Djokovic is firing a warning shot - he is here to play and win..
not sure I agree but it is very interesting.. apparently, Murray is much in demand as a coach, has been approached by several top players, both ATP and WTA, and hasnt agreed - that he would agree to this is partly because it is a short-term assignment, not a year-long commitment. also, it shows this is serious, for Murray at least.
we shall see!

Bets tennis brain ever. Again, this "recency" bias is so frequent.
Mats Wilander would like to have a word. Connors would like to have a word. Evert would like to have a word.

Who ever accused Connors of having a brain?! I have misquoted Andy Roddick, I don't think he said 'best ever' - but that isn't the point, is it? Point is, he thinks Murray can help Djokovic with tactics...

....Why, as just one out of many examples, players don't BIG time seek out the likes of Sampras, Navratilova and....YES, I am gonna say this.....BJK to learn how to volley is beyond me. I mean, sure, LOL, if you could convince Roger to assist....but, there are vets out there who truly could help.

AND, it would be great if today's players truly learned how to serve.....

Mind you, I have no idea how much Murray can assist as a coach. But, the best tennis brain out there, much less "ever"..... :?

Everybody knows that Connors was a very good tactician. He had Pancho Segura on his side, and they were seen frequently drawing and planning strategies before taking the court.
His 1976 USO win over Borg, on HarTru, is a good example. He came in repeatedly against Borg, who could not pass him that day.
So, I don't know about the rest of the people, but I "accuse" Connors of having a tennis brain.
About Nelslus post: agree. Why doesn't anybody go to London for two weeks to learn to volley with Edberg is baffling. And I am sure that if you went to L.A. and asked Pete to teach you serving patterns, the man would oblige.
Don't get me started on Martina.

Volleying is instinctive, not something to be learned in 2 weeks.it took me several years to feel comfortable going to the net, knowing when to go there, what to do there- even at my level..at the highest level, it must be even harder.

Hurkacz has hired Massu and Lendl as coaches...why does he need 2? I don't think he has much upside anyway...

More than likely Lendl won't travel as much as Massu.
