Zverev after the loss to Cerundolo: "I loved Argentina. The only problem is that the crowd doesn’t know how to behave during a tennis match and that’s a bit sad since the organization is brilliant, the tournament is excellent, but the crowd makes it very difficult for you if you’re not Argentine"

We'll move all the tournaments to Germany for you, Sascha. Sorry 'bout that.

Really. Really really. Until you have played here in S. America, you have not seen rowdiness.
Remember the infamous DC tie between the USA and Paraguay, in the 80's. The Paraguayans stationed DRUMMERS outside the hotel where the Americans were staying, to bang drums all night. People threw BATTERIES at the Americans when playing, and had small mirrors to blind them while playing.
And playing here in Argentina is a bit different. You have your rabid fans everywhere. Argies take it to a different level.

Just finished watching Fonseca beat Cerundolo. The kid has a future.
The FH is off of the scale. I would say the hardest FH hit since Fernando Gonzalez, and that puts him perhaps as hardest ever. The BH is serviceable but can be improved. The service can also be improved, and the movement, on clay, is up there. If he is going to be at the top, he has the tools.
He hit a couple of volleys that were good enough. But can't say I saw enough up there.
So, he can build on that FH. And that may be enough.

And Argie/Brazilian rowdiness. Almost at the end of the match, people on the stands nearly came to blows. Because, you know, Argies and Brazilians love each other so much.

It is good to see Fonseca progressing steadily..the game needs more classical, 'normal' players..which he is.
Have been following him..he volleys reasonably well- more important, he is willing to come forward..

Fair enough. But he does have a point if Argies want to support only local players, they should not have atp events there A minimum requirement should be that people are willing to respect players from other countries. Why would the big players like Zverev come back to play here?

But, this pattern is repeating everywhere. We saw the Aussie crowds at the Australian, and the French crowd at RG has become more and more rude with the years. It is not just an Argie thing, despite of what I said above. The people are getting more involved in the worst way. Yesterday, in Buenos Aires, Fonseca hit one unforced error that was greeted with shouts and screams from the crowd that would have made you think it was MP, Cerundolo.
It is quickly becoming that every match which involves a local player quickly turns into the 5th rubber of a DC tie, the old format.
