Things are getting a bit less chaotic - always does as the tournament progresses...the only 'upset' likely today is Krejcikova..
Collins can certainly beat Swiatek, has in the past, but I am not quite sure where Collins' game is right now.

Agree that Navarro could "upset" Krejcikova, but that woujld not be an upset technically. Navarro is ranked higher (but you know that).
I have not seen Emma play in a while. With her limited power, this may be a good tournament for her. She is nimble on her feet, so maybe she can play good defense and scrape wins that way.

With a wide open court, facing MP, Rybakina blows a simple FH by at least two feet behind the baseline.
The shadow of the player she used to be.

Agree, even worse decline than Swiatek this year. Having said that Tauson is on the way up.

Happy that Bencic didn't waste her chance, will now be seeded for the next Slam. Also Alexandrova (likely) in the next round is not an impossible task.

It was not the defeat per se. Tauson is getting better, as you say. But it was some of the shots she hit. Some true sitters that she blew by feet. The MP was not the only one.

This Krejcikova-Navarro match is awful. Whoever gets out of it will have defined "winning ugly."

Oh, her strokes are lovely. The serve is a beautiful motion. Ther FH is so smooth.
If only she had any power. But as biomechanics go, she is textbook.

Good coaches probably, but they didn't manage to teach power.

She is one player that I think should really try a new brand of racquets. Yonexes are great for control, but I don't think they generate enough (any?) power.
As much as I can't play with them, I would like to see her try a Babolat. They are so much powerful than her Yonex.
Or drop that string tension by a lot. A whole lot.

I know it was a match almost no one cared about, but what a rough loss for Nakashima against Sonego today.

He was up 6-2 in the second-set tiebreak on the verge of two-set lead, lost four straight points and had a fifth set point before dropping the tiebreak. He broke early in the third set for the first time in the match for either player, had two points for a double break but then got broken for the first time at 4-3 before losing another tiebreak. After winning the fourth set comfortably, he broke early in the fifth set but got broken back immediately for the second and last time. I don't know if he began cramping, but he got blown out 10-3 in the match tiebreak, which ended at the five-hour mark.

i doubt he would have beaten Shelton in the fourth round--he is 0-4 against hlm, including two defeats this year--but he missed a terrific chance to reach the second week.
