They've swapped the singles, and doubles finals - which makes sense to give a better time slot to the singles finals. So there's still tennis on at the usual time, but with more people on the court. Not sure if that helps.atlpam wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 4:31 pm For as far back as I can remember the Wimbledon finals started at 9:00am Eastern time. Looks like the 1%'ers have come through to many folk's surprise.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 1:09 am Updated Probabilities:
Men
Alcaraz 65
Sinner 25
The rest 10
Women
Sabalenka 30%
Paolini 25%
Rybakina 10%
Vondrousova 10%
Pegula 9%
Coco, Andreeva, Alexandrova 5% each
Rest of the field 1%
Rybakina seems to lack the champion's mindset, falters in tight matches, so I dont give her a better chance, despite her game being so well suited to grass.. Paolini's footwork, movement and volleying, makes her a genuine contender.
Pegula doesnt really have the class to win a major but she is getting closer.. so who knows? Defending champ Krejcikova appears to be injured, still.. Vondrousova seems to be back..
Andreeva doesnt seem ready yet, on grass - though Conchita was an unexpected champion here, so Andreeva could, too. Sabelanka is a bit less dominant than I expected her to be..
It seems like time is going backwards towards 1984 . . .

What were the odds of the final we actually got?
The WTA is unpredictable. Add grass to the mix, and it is a game of craps.
9th year in a row with a first time winner.

I still do. The menu is like my Thanksgiving. I've never cooked Thanksgiving dinner but I live for making Breakfast at Wimbledon. I'm so glad I saw this message about the swapped time slots. I'll still serve bagels, scones, strawberries and cream, grapes (for the colors), Scotch eggs, cucumber sandwiches and macarOns at 9 am, though.ti-amie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 5:47 pmWe used to do breakfast at Wimbledon too. I prefer the term competitive to unpredictable. It shouldn't be the No. 1 and 2 in the finals all the time, or one of them winning. The other players are no slouches.

True, but with women, we may need more than 1% for rest of the field.
