The fifth-set tiebreak has been in place at Roland Garros for all of four years.
I think some of the TNT hosts hadn't watched a lot of tennis before this event, and they were getting quite the education in the past two weeks.

I watched the entire tournament on MAX with the sound either off or very low. I thought they did a good job.

Today, both the play-by-play announcer and the studio host referred to 40-all, which doesn't exist as a term in America. In fairness, it does in France, so maybe they heard the umpires announce the score in French and thought it was the same here.

We don't have a Spanish translation for DEUCE, for example.

Wimbledons Eve
Tennis Watchers
Jun 21

It may seem like we just closed the book on Roland Garros, but we’re on the eve on another Grand Slam. Wimbledon Qualifying will start Monday, as well as three tour level events this week! The WTA will be in Bad Homburg for a 500 level, the ATP in Mallorca for a 250 and both tours will be in Eastbourne for a joint 250 event.

Coverage will be on Tennis Channel for the tour events, with Wimbledon Qualifying heading over to ESPN+ starting Monday.

2025 Week 29
Summer in the City!
Tennis Watchers
Jul 20

After a hectic post Wimbledon week, the tour kicks off the North American Hard Court swing this week in Washington DC, featuring a very familiar albeit surprising name in the draw! In addition to DC, the ATP will be in Umag and Kitzbuhel with the WTA also stopping in Prague.

We’ll be on Tennis Channel once again this week, with the European Tournaments starting early morning, with DC coverage picking up late morning. Keep in mind, Washington DC will get majority of the TV time once the order of play kicks off, so if you are looking for the other three tournaments, TC Plus will likely be your best bet.

2025 Week 31-32
And YOU get an expanded Masters!
Tennis Watchers
Aug 3

Yes there are still plenty of matches left in Canada, but Cincinnati is starting its inaugural extended schedule later this week. Qualifying starts Tuesday, with first round matches start Thursday. With all this overlap, the weeks may seem like they are running together…well…it’s because they are! Our friends to the North are still hosting both their tournaments with action in Toronto/Montreal still live through Thursday.

We will continue to be on Tennis Channel, but we’ve still got matches wrapping up in Canada through Thursday so you’ll have to keep your eyes on the TC Plus App as there will be lots of matches in action this week.

Of course the action isn't just on Tennis Channel, but also on Tennis Channel 2. (How has this not been plugged already?)

What it basically is is a secondary feed showing the next-best matches, using another team of commentators separate from the main service. And it's widely available on all free streaming services.

Its full schedule and coverage scope:

Cincinnati Open
Through 8/12: First to third round & first/second round doubles | 11am-11pm
8/13: ATP/WTA round of 16 & second round doubles | 11am-9pm
8/14: WTA round of 16, ATP quarterfinals, doubles quarterfinals | 11am-5pm
-----
ATP Challenger Tour - Sumter:
8/15: Quarterfinals | 11am-7pm
8/16: Semifinals | 11am-4:30pm
8/17: Finals | 11am-3pm

Now onto the rest of the month for both channels.

Cleveland-WTA, Winston-Salem-ATP, Monterrey-WTA:
8/17: 6:30-8pm TC2
8/18 & 8/19: 11-1:30am TC, 11am-9pm TC2
8/20: 11-1:30am TC, 2-11:30pm TC2
8/21: 11-1:30am TC, 2-5pm & 7-9pm TC2
8/22: 4-11:30pm TC
8/23: 2:30-10:30pm TC (including Newport Hall of Fame coverage)

US Open:
Through quarterfinals (8/24-9/3): 9-11am pregame show TC
Championship weekend (9/6-9/7): 7-8pm postgame show TC

It's really great to have five courts of coverage on DirecTV again. It has been a long time since that was available. Thank you.

If it's not too much to ask, a match that's actually competitive sure would be nice. I blinked during Davidovich Fokina's match and missed the whole thing... Mensik thought about choking the third set away but ultimately held by accident... Shelton's match was one blink longer than the Davidovich Fokina match. I know it's first round, but still...

Lehecka/Coric has potential, though. So far.
