Thr Sabalenka-Raducanu match was high quality to my eyes, as well as to Davenport's and Rubin's as the commentators.

The fact that Sabalenka has won 16 consecutive tiebreaks is one of the most incredible stats I have ever seen. Has to be an all-time record for both tours. Yet no mention of it here.

Actually incredible because tiebreak success is a sign of mental strength..which is not what one credits Sabalenka with...

loved the way Kalinskaya took Anisimova's serve from inside the baseline, to hurry her - a good ploy given that anisimova is not greased lightning on the court..

About Sabalenka-Radaucanu.
Sabalenka went out and, once again, played another three set match in which she hit over 70 UE's (she hit 72). This time, she was lucky and won. but it seems to me she has not learned one bit from the RG final, which she lost.
I have said that coaches get praised too much, or blamed too much. But I wonder if anybody in her box can explain to her that if the ball does not land on the other player's side, you don't win the point. But also, it makes no difference if you hit a screaming winner at 100MPH that clips the line, or a 75MPH cross court that lands two feet inside of it.
Last: stop with the drop shots; you simply do not have the shot.

ALERT: The rain is heavy enough that a rain delay has been issued.

As of now, the delay was only 15 min long and matches resume shortly after. Beware of more bands later tonight though, about 9:25PM and 10:25PM per AccuWeather MinuteCast.

Update: And we have it. Play resumes not before 10:25PM.

not surprised Paolini is doing well, this court is fast and she is one of the best movers in the game - up there with Coco and Swiatek...

I do not agree about the drop-shot. Yes, at times it is a pure cringe. But given that with her weight of shots she frequently pushes an opponent deep behind the baseline, even mediocre ds may win a point. Also - it breaks opponent's rhythm and makes them vary of the possibility. Also sometimes she wins a point with a subsequent volley even if an opponent gets to the drop-shot. In any case she shall try again and again. But keeping a balance, without overdoing it.
