Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Other than Roddick, the rest of the US crop was very lean.
Right now, Fritz needs a few breaks to win one. Shelton, who knows. But the group can win some tournaments.
It is that that J/C have the monopoly right now.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
The oddities of the tennis ranking system coming into affect this summer. The Canadian Open finals last year were played on Monday Aug 12, and so it would make sense to make the drop date for the tournament Mon Aug 11 this year, but no the drop date is Mon Aug 18. Which means that for next week some players will have two Canada Masters 1000 events counted in their rankings. So Alexei Popyrin will make his top 20 debut next week, and then by the next week he'll probably be outside the top 40. Rublev replaces Musetti in the top 10 - at least for a week - as last year's Canada points will drop his ranking outside the top 10 the following week.
On WTA side Badosa drops out of the top 10 as Washington points come off, and Navarro takes her place.

Holger Rune is out of the top 10, and replaced by Karen Khachanov. Khachanov back into the top 10 for the first time in almost two years.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Swiatek could get back #2 ranking just in time for USO if she beats Paolini. Jasmine can move up one more spot, but has already clinched a crucial #8 seeding at USO ahead of Anisimova. #16 seed will go to Belinda Bencic.
For men no changes in the top 8 next week. Further down Jakub Mensik has secured top 16 GS seeding for the first time.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
For men it's only Jakub Mensik (19.9) at #15 and Joao Fonseca (19.0) at #43. Of course Learner Tien (19.7) has some promise as well, but he had an impossible draw this time.
