2025 US Open YCWJ || Scoreboard and Lounge

Think it's easier to pick losers than winners? We'll see about that.

Here's the place to talk about all things losers. A pick tracker will be posted this evening and updated regularly and scoreboards will be updated at the conclusion of each round.

I probably won't be able to make updates to either the scoreboard or pick tracker from Friday August 29th until Monday September 1st.

After how it went for our household during Wimbledon, it might be a relief not to think about these picks over the holiday weekend.

Good luck to Wimbledon champ AND defending USO champ Jeff from Texas! (And good luck to us all!)

A pick tracker has been posted. Please check your picks to make sure I copied them down correctly. The same spreadsheet will contain a scoreboard after the first round finishes.

The first scoreboard has been posted. Vexchaps completed a perfect first round, the first this year! Their losers earned the full score of 20. Three players (janebowles, ktothem1, and Togtdyalttai) are tied for second with 17.

At the other end of the scoreboard, it's not so bad this tournament, unlike Wimbledon. Only two contestants are in single digits, with ptmcmahon in the back with 5. Everyone still has at least two picks left.

I'm posting an update before the end of Paul-Borges, and two contestants, CyborgShoes and motobass, have Borges in the current round. You can subtract 3 from the former and 4 from the latter's score if Borges comes back and wins.

Irena2 and Vexchaps are tied for the leads after the second round with 28. Irena2 had the best second round with 12 points. Togtdyalttai is one back with 27.

Ptmcmahon is still in the lead for the wooden spoon of the contest but also still has a pick. He's the only one not yet out of single digits with 9.

Once again, I won't be updating the pick tracker or the scoreboard until Monday.

After the fourth round, not so many picks are left. Weefunk has made their way to the top of the leaderboard with 40. Irena2 is second but has no picks left. Vexchaps is third but has the same pick as weefunk and so is also eliminated. Jazzyg, Jeff from TX, and motobass are in the best position to challenge weefunk, but all three are 7-8 points back.

The battle for the wooden spoon is still ongoing, as ptmcmahon still has one last pick. If Djokovic defeats Fritz, he'll still end up with the spoon. Otherwise it'll be PeterSkan and Federex with a respectable score of 19.

I'm not sure if I should want to win the wooden spoon or not :D

At the end of the quarterfinals, only one pick remains for one person. That is Jeff from TX's pick of Elina Avanesyan, who is represented in the semifinals by Amanda Anisimova. That means if Naomi Osaka loses in the women's final, Jeff will once again be our champion. Otherwise it will be weefunk.

Congratulations, weefunk! Your medal has been awarded. A final recap will follow after the conclusion of the tournament in a separate thread. I'll also mention the possible wooden spoon winners after the men's semifinals.

Congrats, Weefunk! And thanks Togs and all who helped with the contest!

Congrats to weefunk. It shows how difficult this YCWJ was, seeing that it is over by the Semis. Most of the times, we need to wait until the last day to see who wins.
Thanks for running it, Tog. See you at the Aussie!

Thank you! I am shocked, it's been a very long time since I had any chance to win, lol.

And of course, thanks for running the contest, much appreciated.

For the women, the possible wooden spoon winners are Lin Zhu (if Anisimova wins) and Madison Keys (!) if Sabalenka wins. For the men, it'll be Nishesh Basavareddy (if Alcaraz wins) and Nicolas Jarry (if Sinner wins).
