As Ashkor says, Iga in a walk in the park. And will be the heavy favorite for the USO.
I think Iga, too. Kudermatova kind of collapsed in the third vs. Paolini. She grinded that one out. It won't be enough vs. Iga. Iga will be on a plane to NY by 11 pm.

I wish he had made the volley. It would have been the Shot of the Year.

Just as we were talking about changes to the sport, this final happens.
And nothing to do about it.

The new two-week Master's series events have become a horrible embarrassment to the sport.

Playing in the heat of the day in Cincinnati on a Monday is criminal, and that would have been true even if Sinner had no issues, which probably are not related to the weather. They are killing the sport in the U.S. with this new format, getting rid of tournaments left and right to accommodate the bloated events and having players indicate their disdain for them all over the place.

Alcaraz essentially had walk-overs against the No. 1 and 3 players in the world in the semis and final. Not a good look for the sport.

Swiatek’s season is really reminding me of Djokovic’s 2018 year. Both entered Wimbledon having gone over a year without a title but had lost in the final of a grass court warmup. They then won Wimbledon and backed it up with a title in Cincy.

This really started Novak’s 2nd era of dominance. It’ll be interesting to see if Iga follows a similar path.

Iga is working on making her serve a weapon, she says..Fisette has convinced her she can serve at 180 kmph consistently...against Paolini, she did just that ..if she carries on like this, she will win the USO (again)

She played fantastic, better than I imagined, and she needed to because Paolini played much better than she had in reaching the final.

Probably because I am just stubborn, but I still don't think Swiatek will win the US Open. To be right, though, I will need one of the top players to raise her level significantly because no one is playing well enough at the moment to make Swiatek get tense.

Do not agree with Swiatek being the heavy favorite. For some reason, Sabalenka will revert to Slam playing Sabalenka. With this being a Slam that is not on grass and won this two years ago, Gauff will find a way to reduce DFs to a manageable number (under 10).
