I find it astonishing that Muchova has won exactly 1 title in her life...in 2019!

Re: Tennis Random, Random (On Court)
Not a huge surprise... played 12 matches in 2021, none in 2022, 9 in 2023, and 11 in 2024.
As a Canadian I always was a huge fan of watching him in Davis Cup. Outside of that I found it extremely hard to watch his matches

Loved the serve motion. And I thought he had a bit more in him. And I liked him, as a person.
May retirement be good for him.

Re: Tennis Random, Random (On Court)
I guess no one else entered or requested a wild card. Unless she bought a wild card or it was shady. Regardless, she cheated someone out of about $30.Owendonovan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 2:30 pmThis kinda pissed me off. Low raked players are trying to make a living off something they've put years into training, sacrificing, and paying for and this non player actually gets paid for THAT performance?

An amateur qualifier won the 1 Point Slam, including a third round win over Jannik Sinner. He is now a millionaire.
Coco Gauff was of course eliminated by hitting her serve into the net.

You won one point against Jannik Sinner? I don't care if he was blindfolded and drunk. My hat's off.

Re: Tennis Random, Random (On Court)
Nor should they--at least most of them. Neither Sinner nor Alcaraz need another $1 million. They wouldn't even notice it. But for a guy like Jordan Smith, it's life-changing. (At least until we find out his family owns half of NSW or something.)ashkor87 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 1:20 amYes, watched it...but I dont think any of the pros took it seriouslyJTContinental wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 12:25 am An amateur qualifier won the 1 Point Slam, including a third round win over Jannik Sinner. SIDEBAR: Winning $1 million is still life-changing, right? Or have we reached the point that $1 million simply delays inevitable poverty?
ANOTHER SIDEBAR: It would also be a really big deal for a scrub ranked #138 who struggles to pay transportation, accommodations, etc.
ANOTHER SIDEBAR 2: I guess a major tennis star could win in and donate it to the charity of their choice. That would be nice.
Really, it's a win/win event--until someone screws it up and does something selfish and boneheaded. (Hi, Nick.)
