Based on current picks it is possible we have a winner today - if Jovic and Andreeva lose.

I wonder if it gets easier or harder from now on? Harder because the players are better, no easy pickings left but also easier because we know them and how they are playing..

Harder. You "know them". But these are the top players. Separation is minimal. You can't be more than 60% sure on any pick.

Deciding a winner is always harder for me at this point, much more to consider. I spent all day going back and forth between Svitolina and Andeeva and even switched (whoops.)

Deciding which match to pick from is the only thing easier. Based on draw and what I thought was happen I pretty much knew I needed to pick from that match. No matter how 50/50 I was with deciding who'd win.

By end of day my gut was saying Svitolina and head saying Andreeva.

It's finally time for catch up edition of FAIR DINKUM or CORPSE STINKUM. Now that the Weekend of Many Gallery Events has passed, TMQ is available to let you know just how awful your choice was. Was your pick doe-eyed and fresh FAIR DINKUM like an fan queued up to enter the Tennis Australia grounds, or CORPSE STINKUM like the same fan leaving the Tennis Australia grounds having spent the entire day in 100 degree heat drinking alcohol and eating pricy, garlic-forward food items? Find out now!

FAIR DINKUM

Naomi Osaka (17 victims) Perhaps the most tragic of this crop of losing picks, and not just because TMQ was on this wagon. Like the jellyfish she was looking to emulate with her clothing at this tournament, she stung us and then floated away like nothing happened. TMQ has heard the best way to counteract the poison is with...urine.

Belinda Bencic (1 victim) When a robot is working correctly it is hard to stop. Bartunkova's factory model game is still shiny and new, and only malfunctioned during the second set during this match.

Linda Noskova (3 victims) Noskova is also probably scratching her head at this result, but Wang played the best tennis TMQ has ever seen her play during this AO.

CORPSE STINKUM

Paula Badosa (4 victims) Insanity is repeating the same behavioral pattern and expecting a different result. Time after time, SP participants pile their picks onto Paula Badosa, and her broken back can't handle it.

Mirra Andreeva (3 victims) Svitolina is collecting Russian scalps like it's her job (it kind of is, TMQ supposes). Still only 19, Andreeva has plenty of time to improve, but her game has been pretty static for the last couple of years. Her shot selection is better but still suspect on occasion, and a player with Svitolina's court sense is going to be a challenge.

Yulia Putintseva (1 victim) No pick where the player loses 0&1 is ever going to receive DANK status. Jovic is a future star on the rise; Putintseva is an aging has been without much pool bankability anymore. TMQ would apologize to her fans for this blunt analysis, but she doesn't have any.

I would like to point out there were 3 of us Andreeva losers :) I had company :D

Side note one of my personal pet peeves is reading people saying repeating the same behavior is the definition of insanity (although so many people have started saying literally again, that may be the #1 now.)

I thought Andreeva would win, too .was just saving her for later...
She did beat Svitolina on a much slower court at IW so I was pretty sure she would beat her here..Andreeva seems to have regressed since last year

You're in a good position to pick Svitolina in SF's, right? :)
