Re: Random, Random 2.0
Seems everyone in this mid town Manhattan medical facility waiting room is absolutely miserable. I haven’t heard a positive word from anyone within earshot. Good to know I’m not nearly as miserable as I thought

Re: Random, Random 2.0
I'll join in! I was miserable on the subway today, Owen. People no longer use headphones, apparently, and I forgot mine. I really wanted to slap the person next to me listening to (mediocre) music and dancing in her seat at 8 am.Owendonovan wrote: ↑Wed Jan 28, 2026 2:33 pm Seems everyone in this mid town Manhattan medical facility waiting room is absolutely miserable. Re: Random, Random 2.0
The new "rudest" trend. No headphones, and blasting their (expletive) music. No consideration to anybody else.
And: talking via speaker. No consideration to the fact that I don't want to hear your conversation.
I said it around the mid 90's. The worst invention of the 20th century was TV. And the worst invention of the 21st is smartphones. Sure, they make live a bit easier. But they have changed our social conventions too much. And not necessarily for the better.

Well, I've not seen it in neighbouring countries either. Albeit fair enough I'm there only a handful of times per year. Who knows what happens in say Paris metro..l

To be fair, it wasn't nearly as bad as NY even in London when I was there in the summer.

The expected new lines are far from where I live. May not get on that thing before... 2035
