I only got to see bits and pieces of that match. Mensik did a good job of taking it to Sinner in the third. What's notable is the scoreline in the third--that was a two-break advantage for Mensik, not just one break.

Another thought about Sinner... This time last year, he was out on suspension and losing ranking points. So this is supposed to be his time to defend nothing and rack up points instead. Throw in the fact he not only did not defend his AO title but lost in the semis to Djokovic and then watched Carlos complete the career grand slam before he did... That's a lot of baggage. I wouldn't be able to manage it if it were me. So if you put any stock in any of this, which I do, it makes sense.
