Let's see how open the NFL really is. Let's hope Michael Sam will be the exception, not the rule.

When one of the top QB's or WR's comes out we'll know things have changed in the NFL

Not really. Things likely don't need to "change" in the NFL itself. If you see all the support for Carl, you'll see that most players are very supportive. But this isn't new. That's why Warren Moon is praising him and saying his gay teammates didn't feel comfortable enough coming out in public. Many, many players for the last few decades have said the same thing. Many have been out to their teammates and they've been largely supported by them, they just didn't take the step to make it public knowledge.

It's the fans that have been the question mark. So the jersey sales and the increase in donations to the Trevor Project are more telling signs than anything else. The support from the players in particular, but also the staff and the league isn't really a seed change, especially not in the last 25 years or so.

Every day that passes it seems more and more likely that Tom Brady left the Patriots so he could talk whenever and about whatever the **** he wanted to. Man has barely shut up since he bounced. It's like he's been freed from his shackles.

Doesn't the NFL preseason start in August?

Pre-season? Yes. Mini camps have already begun, training camps start end of the month. We've got a potential Carson Palmer situation on the horizon.
