I bet ya there are several other players both male and female from the LGBTQ+ community. I would love to see a Daria match where she has her GF in her players box. You know how they show the players husbands/wives/BF's/GF's why shouldn't she be able to have the same support in her box?

It has been more open in the WTA. The number of LGBT+ players is not irrelevant: BJK, Martina, Mauresmo. Van Uytvanck and Minnen have been open about it. The WTA accepts it in a very reasonable way: accepted, and no waves made.
It is the ATP that is a statistical oddity.

I knew about Martina and BJK. It should be accepted either way really. I do imagine there are some male players on the tour now that are gay. I think in a sport like figure skating it is pretty open with the Men even more than the ladies.

Yup, a decent amount of WTA players have been openly gay - Sam Stosur came out last year to little fanfare, following in the footsteps of other Aussies like Dellacqua and Stubbs.

The first openly lesbian women's tennis player was actually not BJK or Navratilova, but Helen Jacobs, back in the 1920s/1930s. She won 9 majors.

I hope an active ATP player can take a stand sometime soon

Don't really know who Helen Jacobs is, but during her time in the 20's and 30's the whole LGBTQ community was not really around I imagine. That had to be really hard for her. I have heard interviews with Martina and how she said it was hard for her when she first came on the tour and only certain players befriended her and even how fans treated her.

I do remember seeing Sam Stosur coming out as gay.

I'm not sure that ol' Ernests is qualified to be the president of anything - be it Latvia, the Latvian Tennis Union, or even of a small local book club. He's a bizarre guy.

However, if he does manage to secure the presidency of the Latvian Tennis Union, you can be sure that he'll take care of any vampire problem that might come up.

Why not? The best MALE Tennis player ever (Alona of course has achieved more), has been around the sport for a long time, and is already loaded with family money, which means he knows how to handle money or knows people that do, and makes it harder to bribe because his fees would be (if such a situation would arise) exorbitant.
It would be like if Venezuela needed a new President for the tennis federation. Nobody other than Nicolas Pereira would do. Instead, we have some dumb bureaucrat.

They do have some interesting designs. I am a bit on the fence with this, because of the high top. But certainly appealing to a lot of people.

I love my Naomi Osaka X Nike Nightcourt Zoom shoes, but I think I just might have to have a pair of these for the heck of it. Not sure if I would wear them to play in , but just to have.
