Re: Talk about the NFL
The reason for the many, many moves happening in the NFL right now. Dumbest cap in all of sports.

Re: Talk about the NFL
$182 MM split amongst 56 players? But the owners have no such caps, right?
What you said.

Re: Talk about the NFL
But it's so much worse than that. It's like maybe $107 MM for let's say 53 players. Because your 3 best players, let's say the QB and top two defensive players will swallow up close to $75 million in cap space alone. Exceptions being teams with QB's on their rookie contracts and those that hit on some playmakers in later rounds that are now starters.
It's ridiculous. NFL makes more more than any other league and they do this.

Add to that the short life-spans of so many positions...
Truly a good reason for a major strike. As you say, it is the most lucrative league in the world.

N.O. now in deep problems to find a good QB. T. Hill will not do it. If they can cut down on WInston's INT, they have their man, but that is still a big if.
Will miss Brees. He was a favorite.

No kidding. He can scramble fine but didn’t show he was much of a passing QB. A lot of money for someone who probably should remain a backup / gadget play guy.

Re: Talk about the NFL
I am not going to link to it because I already closed the tab, but it seems the contract for Hill is some sort or accountants' trick. The entire contract is VOIDABLE, so N.O. can use it for manipulating the cap.
Seems the story is still developing. Jameis will see A LOT of snaps this year.
Sidestory. Brees was a good QB when he got to N.O., but not a great one. Then he developed. Could that be Winston's case? I would like that.

Re: Talk about the NFL
Yes, the voidable info is in the tweet I posted. But honestly, the mere idea that he was signed to anything of this value is insane, voidable or not. The guaranteed bonuses he is getting from this year alone are the amount he is worth over a 4-year period. NO is setting the market for him as if one exists, when it doesn't. No other team would be paying out anywhere near that amount of bonus money for him.
Jameis will not necessarily see a lot of snaps this year. They are working on a contract. He is not the starter and it will be a competition even if they sign him. Given the QB need in the league for next season, that's an approach that may see him leave NO and they'll deserve every bit of being stuck with their glorified Tight End at QB.

Be kind to the Bears fans in your life. They're going through a rough time right now. Had high hopes of getting Deshaun Watson. Switched all their hopes to Russell Wilson and thought it was all but certain they were going to get him. And the Bears just signed Andy Dalton to a one-year contract today. Bears fans are understandably having a rough day.

Going from Russell Wilson to andy Dalton? I'm not a Bears fan and I'm sad.JazzNU wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 9:46 pm Be kind to the Bears fans in your life. They're going through a rough time right now.
