2023 NFL Challenge || Scores and lounge
I forgot to open this topic.
And we are off!!!!!!! ... to a great start. The Chiefs drop their opener to the Lions. Patrick Mahones is the MVP? Nope. Travis Kelce is the MVP. But they will never again give it to anybody that is not a QB.

Re: 2023 NFL Challenge || Scores and lounge
Kelce is great but at least last year Mahomes was a deserving MVP - he made lots of plays without Kelce and with him. Let's not let one bad game tonight make us forget everything he did do last year, especially after losing Tyreek Hill.
That said they sure didn't look very good without him tonight!
Should we start the "should they have gone for it on 4th down" debates? Lions went for it 4th and 2 on KC 45 or so with two minutes left - didn't make it but I say it was the right call since it was 4th and short and could've stopped Mahomes from getting ball back perhaps.
As for KC going for it on 4th an 20 ... then 25 from deep in their own territory... well they were desperate I guess.
Of course, take all of this with a grain of salt. As I mentioned in old thread... KC was my survivor pool pick this year. Oh well, can't EVER do worse than that right.

I'm in a survivor pool. I have four entries, I considered KC, but once Kelce was ruled out, I didn't feel comfortable taking them. I went with Minnesota, Jacksonville, Baltimore and Washington. Let's see if I can get all four around. I ALWAYS lose at least one the first week.

If you only lose 1 of 4 you’ll be doing way better than I have in a long time!

After a great start, with The Chiefs dropping their opener, the Bengals and the Bill followed suit.
So, on week 1, Mahones, Burrow and Allen dropped the ball, over and over.
Wolfy333 decided to remind us how good he is at contests and scored the high score for the week. Pt and Jeff decided to burn their "worst week" option from the start. So, all in all, we are all bunched up.

Re: 2023 NFL Challenge || Scores and lounge
Second week is over.
Pt decided that he really, really did not need that first week score and used it as his low score week, and then he produced an excellent score for week 2. So much so that he is in the lead, with a huge 114 points.
Jeff did not submit a team so, with two weeks now off, I gather he has dropped out of the contest. Hope to see him next year.
Picks for week 3 are up.

Comparing week 1 and 2 scores may have been a good one to miss.

Actually with bye weeks coming up there will surely be lower scoring weeks to come. Although at least we still have 16 point games those weeks now!

Week 3 is over, and we have a tie between Patrick and Pt. Which makes you wonder:
Are we playing Canadian rules football here?
A good scoring week, so our low scores week is still week 1, for everybody.

I think the Jets game should have quieted any thought of Mahomes not being one of the best players in the league now? Looks like week one was just a bad week - lately a lot of good players seem to have bad week ones, I wonder if from the general trend of stars playing less pre-season.

Washington/Buffalo looked like very safe pick but both easily lost

Mahones is one of the best QB's. But his best receiver is Kelce, therefore my statement.ptmcmahon wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 12:40 pmI think the Jets game should have quieted any thought of Mahomes not being one of the best players in the league now? And Kelce is head and shoulders above other TE's. Mahones is the best QB but on any given day, Allen, Jackson, Burrow and a few others can match him.
