Jule Niemeier lost. Thought she would keep progressing after making the Wimbledon quarters last year. Tauson won, and we have all expected more from her by now.

Agree about Niemeier. She looked solid last year at W, but has done nothing since.
A bit like Podoroska at RG in 2020. It seemed she was destined to be a regular member of the top 30. And she has been struggling ever since.
I gather that some people can have two great weeks in the tour in their careers. And then, back to your real level.

Good memory. She was up a set and a break and lost 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. Fourth round. It was a decent follow-up to her Wimbledon run. She was up to #61 then and now she's #136.
