I didn't. I thought he was training for them. He passed Roger's 6 last year, but this is still an important tournament.
But not terribly surprising. I gather he wants to be really healed for the Aussie.

According to the WTA site, Swiatek will need to defend her YEC title in order to finish the year at #1.
This might not be enough. Sabalenka was in the semis last year (with 2-1 in RR stage). She needs to do worse than that in order for Swiatek to overtake her.
According to WTA site, Swiatek's loss today has clinched #1 for Sabalenka. Even if Swiatek still wins the tournament.

Fritz moves ahead of Medvedev to secure the #4 spot in the rankings for the year. I though Medvedev was going to drop out of the top 4 eventually, but I thought his lead was secure until next year at least.

Neither Medvedev nor Djokovic won any ATP titles this year. Who would have predicted that?

I might have predicted the latter.

The BJK cup shows, yet again, how meaningless rankings are..Bronzetti beat Linette in straight sets..I imagine Linette is ranked much higher...

Rankings are reflection of a players results over the past year - they are not necessarily predictive of individual match results, no are they intended to be used that way.
