Uhm... The level of competition that Zverev faced was way tougher. He had a brief window there in between R/R/N and now J/C. I gather we can agree: that USO final should have been his. And then, the one year in which he was pushing Rafa at RG he had that ankle injury.
I really think that he reached his peak. I don't see what else he can do better. He is simply that: a top notch player that was missing the famous imponderable. And had a bit of bad timing.
I say he did not have Hewitt's luck.

So much for Djokovic making it interesting.
Time simply brings everybody down. He is the 3rd best player in the world right now. But the other two are too far ahead.

He can't stay with Alcaraz from the baseline so he was coming forward to save his legs.

And I don't think Novak has ever gone out there thinking he can't volley.
Mind you, I agree. He is not AS GOOD AS THE OTHER top players. From there to being inept there is a stretch.
