Osaka Ostapenkois the one I want to see today! high star power match.

potential upsets; about 50% probability; Schmiedlova over Tauson (would it even be an upset?), Avanesyan over Haddad Maia (court may be too fast for BHM), Sasnovich over Boulter (Sasnovich is very good player, can beat anyone.. beat Serena once if I am not mistaken).. Andreeva versus Osorio is unfortunate, both young players we would want to see more of..

Collins out in the first round to Dolehide.

Was surprised to see analysts picking Collins as a contender. If the U.S. Open had been played in May, maybe, but she has really struggled since her white-hot streak earlier this year and came in less than 100 percent physically.

Swiatek looked very ordinary today. I don't see her winning this tournament, or even being the finalist from this half.

Agree with you. Sad as it's her last major.

I didn't see it ; did she look tight?

Is Stefanos done? That was a bad loss. I know Kokkinakis is a fighter, but that would have been a routine victory a few years ago.

....AT which point, McDonald had a few game points to go up 2-0 in the second.....and, then, inevitably, the double faults and errors cost that game. AND since then.....

I'll let you start up the Tsitsipas is Washed Up thread.

Albeit, perhaps a Tsitsipas and Rune are Washed Up thread would be more appropriate. :gorgeous: :gorgeous:

Look- in any year, I would not have been shocked if Kokkinakis wins a set or two. He is talented.

Nevertheless.....I still think Tsitsipas (AND, for that matter, Rune, of course) can still find his best team and get his s**t together. But, it does indeed look not so likely. Especially with Alcaraz and Sinner being around for the next bunch of years. (He Who Shall Not Be Named is still, obviously, a huge factor. But....not for much longer.....right....) :freaking:

The EVER reliable Rybakina had to “save” a few set points in that second set, serving at 5-6. She managed to wobble her way through.

The Tsitsipas backhand has been exposed as a massive weakness except on clay. I believe he is done as even a fringe contender on faster surfaces, and we wiil see if he can remain a factor on the dirt.

Fils will win his match vs the 18 year old Learner Tien out of California but the kid's attitude the entire match has been "you're going to have to beat me".

I saw almost all of Collins match except the end. I thought she would win. She did look uncomfortable out there today.

Andreescu vs Paolini is my night match.
