Navarro is good.
But she also lacks the size and power. Would give my worthless soul for her FH. But I think Badosa does everything a little bit better.

I agree - Badosa is in form. Will be a solid match. I do think she's slightly more streaky than Pegula , so Pegula remains "the test."
I want to see Zheng / Sabalenka. The balls will be fluffy quickly.
(Sidebar - do we want to have any discussion on why zverev / fritz isn't the night match? I get that Tiafoe has been playing late but...)

Badosa isn't reliable at all, Pegula is...and Pegula is a better player anyway. I do think Pegula is over-rated but Badosa is even more so..

Money. Money. Everything about the USO is about money, and I bet some metric somewhere told the USTA that Tiafoe/Dimitrov will be a more viewed match than Zverev/Fritz.skatingfan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 11:27 amProbably Frtiz requesting a day match.Fastbackss wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:31 am I agree - Badosa is in form. And I bet that Disney has a say now (through ESPN). So, money.

Yes, but also they've been pretty consistent about giving Fritz the assignments he wants. That's why he's been on Armstrong through the first 4 rounds.

Re: '24 US Open Day 9 Order of Play& Discussion
Love Emma. I have said it. But this is the second match in which her opponent self destroyed. Badosa was up 5-1 and all of the sudden, her strokes stopped landing in. Nothing worked and she could not hold back the emotions.
One member here used to say that it was always 99% mental. That you never forgot how to hit your strokes. But yes, you do. It happens to the hackers of our level, and it happens to the masters at their level. Some days, your strokes aren't there.
OTOH. Good for Emma that she kept her cool (she always does) and waited for the opportunity.
