Completely. After Ferrer's retirement, he inherited the mantle of toughest man on tour. To me, at least.jazzyg wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 6:20 pm It's kind of funny that Schwartman's final match at Roland Garros ended in a loss to Halys.
Schwartman has modest talent but was one of the great overachievers in tennis history.
Halys is a very talented ball striker who has done nothing even remotely consequential in his career.
He will be a very good coach, one of these days.

Re: RG Qualifying 5/20 - 5/24 2024
Zidansek beat Baptiste in three sets to make the main draw, avenging a loss last month.
After her run to the semifinals a few years ago, I'm very surprised Zidansek has not made more of her career. I'm not talking about her being elite--she's only 5-5--but she showed a huge forehand that entire tournament and I certainly thought she could be a top 30 player. Now she has to qualify at slams.

Re: RG Qualifying 5/20 - 5/24 2024
The parity in the WTA.
You lose three, four matches, and your ranking drops below the cutting point for most tournaments. Then, you qualify, and you draw a top seed. So you end up stuck out there playing 125's and not making enough points.
The separation between #50 and #100 is less than 400 points. That is just about three SF showings, during a year.
On the opposite side of the spectrum: Nadia Podoroska is back into the top 60. After dropping all the way below 150. It fluctuates a lot.
