It is not Novak's ability to hit the ball. He will keep that a bit longer.
What brings every player back to earth are his/her legs. Eventually, every extra set you play takes twice as long to recover, in an exponential way. The match form which you would recover in just one afternoon now haunts you for two days.

Just noticed that Newport is no longer on the calendar. Replaced by another cookie-cutter HC event - Los Cabos. It is a bummer - another hit for a grass court tennis. Do you think we lost Newport forever? Did it went bankrupt?

Los Cabos isn't new - it was held last year - Newport, and Atlanta were dropped to allow space for Canada, and Cincinnati to expand to 12 days each. There is a Newport event going on right now. It's a challenger event now, and includes both an ATP, and a WTA event for the first time.

tbh it's been a challenger event masquerading as a tour event for many years.

She was mouthing off about the unfairness of her ban too.

As with many of the other "I somehow ingested the wrong thing" cases, I'm fascinated by certain details. In this case, it is how this can go from an independent tribunal (which was comprised of... what kind of experts in these matters??) clearing her to "just add science" to the process and she is, once again, banned.

Exactly. It must be maddening for her and any player going through the process.

I interviewed her and wrote a long story a couple years ago. She lives in Indianapolis now. She spent about $250k to fight this. Hard to believe she would do that if she wasn’t innocent. Judy Murray thinks she is innocent. She may well be. Contaminated meat is a real thing in Colombia. Is it odd that she would be caught using that same substance that is known to cause false positives in the country where she was tested?

It could also be a bit personal. The ITIA is based in London next to the national training center. She was contacted by the ITIA during her suspension with a warning that was totally out of line. They thought they spotted her training there, which isn’t allowed during a suspension. But it wasn’t her. It was Claire Lu.

Anyway, this sucks for her. Career-ending.

Too bad she didn't have 5 grand slam titles in hand when committing her doping offense.

A whole lot of, "WTF are they even talking about?" in her suspension. The WHOLE process needs to be ripped apart and put back together in clear, fair way. If it's money you're after, just join the "Enhanced Games".
