Count me in the "this is unfair" camp. To begin with, Russia is a dictatorship (and so is Belarus) with a maniacal hitman for a leader. If any of the Russian players were to as much speak up openly against the war, Putin would see to that.
I agree to ban Russia from all TEAM sports. But the individuals are a different story.
And about renouncing your citizenship: it varies from country to country, of course, but sometimes it is not that easy. And as said above, you can hate GOVERNMENTS without hating your COUNTRY. I certainly hate the Venezuelan government, but I have different feelings for my country. I am sure that at least a few of the Russian players must have ambivalences too.

Just to be clear, when you become a US citizen, you do not give up your original nationality or passport.

Is this purely down to the tournament, or are they doing what Boris tells them? What about Queens and Nottingham?
Gutted for the players having to miss out when the rest of the tour has allowed players to play as neutrals. One of the images still in my mind is Rublevs “no more war” signature. But then again, I was also gutted for the Russian Paralympic team being banned from the Games

I popped in to say the LTA is creating a sh!tshow. The ban is all tennis tournaments in the UK, not just Wimbledon. So, ITF, ATP, and WTA affected. If the UK is allowing Russians and Belarusians to compete in other professional sports such as soccer, golf, F1, etc, this is an even more confusing decision.

But why is this convo being had in this thread? Magazine cover and pregnancy and marriage announcements followed by talk of the very serious tennis matter of Wimbledon banning players based on nationality.

Not retired. TC has current players do these 1-2 weeks guest commentating stints from time to time and that's what this is. He'll be in all week. He seems to be going over well with fans.

I didn't know where to put it. Maybe I should have started a new thread. :(

Because even in TAT1.0 we were sort of schizoid about the TENNIS RANDOM RANDOM and the TENNIS PLAYERS RANDOM RANDOM threads/topics. ;)
One of our peculiar quirks, I guess :)

Good for him. Now we know where he has been.
Can't see much of her dress but looks pretty enough from the distance.

I wonder if the ATP and WTA will let the affected players keep their 2021 points or give them a protected ranking for a period of time.
