Azarenka out to Linette - 6-4 in the 3rd.
Linette is having a good year thus far.

She was gassed. The heat got to ger more than to Potapova.
Speaking of Anastasya: had never seen her before. Very easy on the eye. Easy to root for.
I thouight she was more frustrated than anything else. If she was truly gassed, she needs to work on her conditioning. She grew up and lives near Miami and it's downright pleasant right now compared to what it is most of the year, so this heat should be nothing for her.

Not surprised Coco lost.. she really isnt that good , yet.. the one I am suprised at is Vika, she had been playing well.. Berretini is the male version of Pliskova - what is he up to? Is he for real? Medvedev rolling through quietly, as expected. It is quite astonishing to me, how quickly Alcaraz has become #1 and how well he is actually doing - of course, keeping Djokovic out of the country helps, and now the clay court season begins, where I dont expect even Djokovic to beat him. I had thought Alcaraz would take a year or to get to this level of dominance, but he is already there!

Coco's defense was astonishing, as usual.. but she needs a way to win points on this kind of court, which she doesnt seem to have.

Clay season on the ATP is where the contenders separate themselves from the pretenders.

Hurcacz saved 5 match points and converted on his first vs. Kokkinakis in a match that went 3 tiebreak sets on a Grandstand court that has seen 5 consecutive tiebreak sets (Felix - Montiero 2 tiebreak sets earlier).

Gasquet withdrew before his match with Tsitsipas...

Dabrowski and Stefani have not yet been able to recapture the magic they had together in 2021 so far this year - they lost their 1st round match to Linette and Pera today.

Rybakina's UE count is off the scale. Badosa may win this match solely on keeping the ball in.

Potapova has pedigree...didn't realise she is junior Wimbledon champion 2016...taken 7 years to start making an impact on the senior tour but not bad....

No it didn't take her 7 years. You don't get to her ranking overnight. She's been making good progress for a few years now and this is far from her first win over a decently ranked player.

Two very key breaks by Rybakina... the first in the 7th game, which was to get back on serve at 3-4, and then, of course in the 11th game to go ahead 6-5. Both of those breaks were fierce battles that Rybakina won.

Onto the 3rd...

She has done nothing much till Linz..I checked her record.
