SIGN-IN LOCATED IN THE REFEREE'S OFFICE

by meganfernandez Schmiedliva had 15-match losing streak at Slams from 2015 to 2020 until she beat Venus. So that’s why Vee is still getting WC. To help people snap their losing streaks. :)

by jazzyg I am not able to watch the match, but Tommy Paul is crushing Davidovich-Fokina early. Paul looked awesome in the final three sets against Safiullin, but that made me wonder if my eyes were playing tricks on me considering Safiullin's mediocre career, so I figured D-F could take him.

Nice call so far. Paul has won 9 of the first 10 games.

TRUTH. Seriously- I have been bringing this up all the time. Venus is your Gateway Drug to success. V loses to Volynets- and her results improved considerably (for awhile)....MORE significantly- Zhu come backs from a third set deficit and beats an injured V. And, look where her career is now. Future HOF Naef is next on deck.... :gorgeous:

I was fully prepared for this. :)

by ti-amie Shelton up two sets to one over Karatsev, was just now standing and talking to his coaching team. I really, really don't like this.

by Suliso Wozniacki up 5-0 in the decider vs Brady. Not bad for the old lady!

LOL, this video was from a season of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The chick who went "how dare you" after being called "beast" used to be on the show- Eileen Davidson. She's a soap opera actress- and John and I always chuckle over this BAD Soap Opera-level, melodramatic and overly-acted silliness moment. Now, Megan gave me the opportunity to share this video with all of you. :gorgeous:

I suspect that what Megan meant was that she was prepared for some snark from me and/or others, for her DARING to desecrate (albeit, deservedly, at least arguably) V's game. :)

by ponchi101 Elise playing a solid defense and sprinkling that with a few winners. She is playing well.

Everyone laughed at me when I said Mertens would be a challenge. and that Coco's whole draw is tough. Wozniacki would be next, right? Tough.

Coco has beaten her easily earlier though..albeit on clay...

by ashkor87 Caro and Coco are mirror-images, they are the same player, actually...if Coco gets past Mertens, she should win..she is much younger, after all...

by ashkor87 Not happy with Coco's forehand though..still drops short ..but she will win now..

You don’t think Coco is much more offensive? I never thought of her as a counterpuncher. Maybe she is. If so she should impose herself a lot more.

Wozniacki’s tenacity, experience and champion mjndset are hard to bet against.

Caro has a great attacking backhand and a good serve, just like Coco.but yes, Coco has become more aggressive in the past couple months..

Who was laughing?!?! Coco's form has certainly been questionable at the Open. For a set and a half, Mertens was looking quite dangerous. Then- she went back to Old Mertens form. For the first set and a half- I'd say that Coco's backhand, of all things, looked like her worst shot- SO many errors.

Coco's gotta find her best game again. Still- enough of She Who Just Will Not Go Away. At least beat HER, Coco. :yD

What? They are most definitely not.

Wozniacki is a backboard that has never hit a winner in her life

Beat me to it. I find no similarities whatsoever.

by nelslus ....NONE of you are talking about Novak!??! (LOL, I've been away for a bit....) Granted- after losing the first to sets, Novak is now up 4-0 in the third....

by ashkor87 Forehand technique...
Great movers,
Good serves
Great backhand
No similarities?! What would be a similarity for you, pray?

Saw the score and flipped it on...so if he turns it around I'll take the blame/credit.

by nelslus Why can't any of these bums ever just polish Novak off?!?!

Also- very bummed that Rybakina lost. Was at least hoping to see her play at the Open. :x (Great effort from Cirstea).

by JTContinental Krejcikova and Siniakova were dumped quite unceremoniously from the doubles tournament today, losing 2&3 to Vondrousova/Strycova

by ashkor87 Krejcikova seems a bit off lately...unwell?

Forehand technique. I don't see them similar at all.
You think Wozniakci has a good serve? I think she breaks the 100 MPH mark once or twice a match. Coco's serve can do some damage.
I don't think Coco has a great backhand. For that matter, Caro has a very good BH when she is on the defensive, but it is not as if she will dictate with that stroke during a point, for the simple reason she never dictates a point.
Caro is a retriever that counter punches when the other player starts dictating. Coco is more aggressive.

As I said, I really don't see them in any way similar

by ashkor87 I guess it is in the eyes of the beholder! I have been saying, since I first saw Coco, that she is too much like Caro, needs to fix her forehand and get more aggressive.
Coco's technical problemon the forehand reminded me immediately of Caro's forehand.

I saw the score for the first set, and said "he will win in four".
I saw the score for the second set, and said "he will win in five". Went to sleep.
Woke up this morning and didn't even bother to check the tennis news until I got here to the forum. I was with JT.

You're talking about Mrs. Bieber of course. She's looking for herself on the jumbotron not at the tennis.
